Letter from Paul [Jun. 12th, 2008|10:30 pm]
The Automatic!

i wonder how John Terry is doing... still gutted i reckon. he missed one, i gave one away. penalties eh? crackers! it hit me hard. we lost the game against team average at soccer 6 in Reading, out of the tournament again! so i got wasted. (it's not big and it's not clever!) decided to pick a fun fight with Pritchard from Dirty Sanchez, (he is big and clever...?) which he gladly accepted, as a result i couldn't walk properly for a while. luckily the last show of our UK tour, in Wrexham, was a week or so away. plenty of time to recover.

Wrexham was ace and it marked the end of my first tour with the lads. super fun times were had. which included; a million gigs, 2 festivals, 2 soccer6 tournaments, 1 fa cup final (boo), clay pigeon shooting and loads of other stuff i'll never tell you.

Since then we've been writing and recording B sides, we have been in discussion with artist Dave Bailey over the nearly complete artwork for This is a Fix. Looks amazing! Now we're busy packing for LA to shoot the video for first single Steve McQueen. On return we hit Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, interviews, photoshoots and all that jazz..... Album drops end of August you lucky buggers.

in other exciting news, we've just put the first webisode of 'This Is A Fix' online, at our brand spanking new youtube channel. webisode #1 is a live video put together from all the shows on the April tour, with a couple of live tracks thrown in there too... it looks mint, so click here to go check it out. there's some pretty cool old vids on there too which you might not have seen, including frost remaking snakes on a plane with his laptop charger...

On a personal note thanks to one and all for dragging me off the streets of Sunderland (great football team) and having me in this world beating super hella good rock outfittingtonhiemenburgh.

Cheers, and see you at the festivals! Paul x

For those not on the mailing list.... GET A MOVE ON! ;)

This is by no means a review, more the ramblings of an ecstatic fan but you might be interested in the videos I took, aha.

THE AUTOMATIC UK CLUB TOUR. [Jan. 20th, 2008|11:51 am]
The Automatic!

[mood |satisfiedsatisfied]

Got an email from the mailing list thingy... I'm a Mod, so I thought I'd share. :)

Hi Everyone

We're currently in the studio recording the new album and can't wait to get back out on the road and play the new tracks as well as some from the first album.

As such we've lined up a load of club dates across the UK in March and April so we can get up close and personal in some of our favourite small venues as well as the ones we always wished we'd played but never got round to.

So this is just a heads-up to make sure you all get the first shot at the tickets - they'll be onsale at all venues from 9am on Monday, 21st January and will not be generally advertised anywhere until the following day.

Tickets are priced at £9.00 (subject to booking fees, etc) and are available in most cases from www.seetickets.com or directly from the venues (links below).

Hope to see you in March and April!

Dates under here!!

I don't know about age restrictions... I'm afraid you'll have to find that out for yourselves.

Sounds good though! :)

Pennie quits The Automatic

Band say keyboardist 'grew apart from the band'

The Automatic's keyboardist Pennie has quit the band.

The keyboard player and backing singer announced his departure from the band this morning (September 18).

In a statement posted on their official website, the band explained that the keyboardist had found the last year 'increasingly unenjoyable', and that he was 'growing apart from the rest of the band'.

The three other members of the band - Rob Hawkins, James Frost and Iwan Griffiths - have stated that they plan to continue, and will fly to the USA to begin recording their second album soon.

Pennie, a member of The Automatic since 2003, played his final shows with the band at the Get Loaded In The Park festival (August 25-26).
